Traf_Algar (b. 1998) is a Guatemalan-French artist based in London whose vivid drawings function as a visual diary. Through colour, detail, and expressive linework, he explores memory, identity, and personal heritage.

 

His work often navigates themes of loss, melancholy, and nostalgia, using colour as a way to preserve experiences, places, and emotions that might otherwise fade. A residency in Antigua, Guatemala, in 2024 marked a significant turning point in his practice. Immersed in the landscape and culture of his roots, he returned with a renewed sense of connection and began developing a new body of work centred on his relationship to Guatemala. While currently working towards his first solo exhibition based on this project, Traf_Algar has continued to expand his practice across different mediums. In 2026, he completed a residency in the South of France, where he produced a series of ceramic works responding to the themes and imagery emerging from his Guatemala research. 

 

More recently, he presented a solo exhibition at Fishtank Gallery in London, featuring his first large-scale installation composed of monumental drawings reaching over two metres in height. Through drawing, ceramics, and installation, Traf_Algar continues to build immersive environments that weave together personal memory, cultural heritage, and emotional storytelling.
